Be careful doing this. Many companies require an upfront deposit in order to fax(some numbers are long distance), and if the company you work with happens to have the majority of your calls as long distance, the bills can pile up fast. There are free downloads to CGI scripts on the net which can convert a simple linux box to a faxing gateway, ensuring that your long distance is totally under your control. It will take some expertise in setting it up, but anyone with programming experience or an experienced web admin should be able to handle it.
You will need the box to act as server, full-time connection to the net(like any mail server), and a phone-line for the fax to connect to and dial.
: One way is to use send an email generated on the server to a fax gateway that will convert it into a fax.
: There are commercial companies who can provide this service e.g faxaway.com
